A scholar's villa
I came for the diving and spent half my holiday reading the owner's library. The house is beautiful and the owner is generous with his knowledge.

A sensitively restored three-bedroom stone village house in the old town of Kaş, a short downhill walk from the harbour. Sleeps six across one king, one queen and one twin bedroom, all air-conditioned with ceiling fans. A small courtyard plunge pool (4 × 3m) tucked behind stone walls with a mature fig tree for shade. Two terraces: a ground-floor dining terrace and a roof terrace with panoramic views over the Mediterranean to the Greek island of Meis. The roof terrace has sun loungers and a wood-fired pizza oven (seasoned, ready to use). Original 200-year-old cedar beams and limestone floors throughout. The kitchen has been updated to modern specification (gas hob, electric oven, dishwasher, espresso machine) while preserving the traditional feel. The main living room has a wood burner and a well-stocked reference library including Lycian history, archaeology, and Turkish cookery. Additional features: fast WiFi, washing machine, satellite TV, beach towels provided. No parking on-site (the lanes are too narrow) — public parking is a 3-minute walk. Some steep stairs — not suitable for guests with mobility issues. Ideal for couples, small families and anyone with an interest in archaeology.
Four-minute walk downhill to Kaş harbour and the waterfront restaurants. The Friday morning market is a local institution. Mavi Mağara (Blue Cave) dive site is 20 minutes by boat. The Greek island of Meis runs daily ferries (20 minutes, bring your passport). Dalaman airport is 2h 15m by car.

An old stone house done properly. The beams, the floors, the courtyard. My husband is an architect and he spent an embarrassing amount of time photographing details.

Villa is stunning. Pool is a plunge pool — fine for cooling off but you won't be doing lengths. Location is perfect for Kaş lovers.

Feels like a real place, not a rental. Quiet, cool, thoughtful. Kaş itself is the best town on this coast.
