About the villa

An authentic three-bedroom cave house carved into the volcanic tuff in the heart of Göreme village. Sleeps six across three cave-room bedrooms, all with en-suite. Proper ventilation and climate control — not 'atmospheric but damp'. A stone-built terrace — the reason to book. Direct morning view of the hot-air balloons rising from the valleys at dawn (around 5am in season). Sun loungers, a small plunge pool cut into the rock, and a fire pit for cooler evenings. Outdoor kitchen with gas BBQ and bar fridge. Inside: original 1940s cave rooms carved by the owner's grandfather, preserved and modernised sensitively. Vaulted stone ceilings with visible tool marks. Modern specification throughout — underfloor heating (essential — it gets cold here), air handling for fresh air, custom lighting designed for cave ceilings. Contemporary kitchen (induction hob, electric oven, dishwasher, espresso machine) fits within the original rock walls. Additional features: fast WiFi, washing machine, satellite TV, hairdryers, locally sourced breakfast provisions on arrival (eggs from the village, fresh bread, honey, olives, pomegranate juice). Parking 2 minutes' walk (Göreme's lanes are too narrow). Not suitable for guests with claustrophobia or mobility issues (cave rooms, uneven floors, stone steps). Balloon flight booking service available (advance booking essential).

The local area

Göreme's Open-Air Museum — Byzantine rock-cut chapels with original frescoes — is a 10-minute walk. Pigeon Valley is a 15-minute drive. Balloon flights (book at least two weeks ahead) depart pre-dawn from fields just north of town. Kayseri airport is 75 minutes; Nevşehir airport 45 minutes.
